Casket bearers were Joe Copelin, Victor Herzberg, Robert Gillespie, Darrell Herzberg, Gail Fisher, and Leonard Danielson. Flower bearers were Mrs. Judd Griffith and Mrs. Victor Herzberg. James Albert Neal, son of Albert and Effie Spargur Neal, was born February 27, 1931 at Villisca, Iowa and passed away at the age of 48 years, on Wednesday evening, July 4, 1979, at Villisca. Jim graduated from Villisca High School in 1949 and served in the Iowa National Guard for 8 years and in the U. S. Air Force for 4 years. On October 29, 1961, he was united in marriage to Donna Clayton at Red Oak, Iowa. To this union were born two sons, Stephen Craig and Carl James, both living at home. Jim is survived by his wife, Donna and two sons, two brothers, Dennis and Robert of Villisca and four sisters, Luella Kernen of Villisca, Mary Farrens of Eureka, Illinois, Betty Larson of Kearney, Nebraska, and Lois Bergren of Red Oak, Iowa. Also surviving him are many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Ruth and Frances. Jim farmed in the Villisca and Nodaway vicinities for fourteen years and moved to Villisca in 1976, purchasing the Marsh Motel and Cafe.
