Pall bearers were Larry Neal, Richard Warren, Albert Kernen, Richard Cross, Jim Larson, and Neal Gray. Flower bearers were Mabel Williams, Rachel Lyle, and Ethel Matthael. Music was by Frances Gray. The selections were "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" and "I Need Thee Every Hour." Concluding services were held at the Villisca Cemetery, Sutphen Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. James Albert Neal, son of Douglas and Ella Moore Neal, was born August 12, 1889 near Elmer, Missouri and passed away at the Municipal Hospital in Clarinda on June 19, 1968 at the age of 78 years. He attended the schools in Nodaway and was a farmer for most of his life in the Villisca area. He was married to Effie Spargur on February 22, 1913, in Creston, Iowa at the Presbyterian parsonage. Mr. and Mrs. Neal celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary in February of this year. To this union were born nine children: Dennis F. Neal, Mrs. Theron Kernene (Luella) and Robert D. Neal, all of Villisca; Mrs. Darrel Farrens (Mary) of Eureka, Illinois; Mrs. Earl Larson (Betty) of Wahoo, Nebraska, Mrs. Vincent Nelson (Ruth) of Palisade, Nebraska, Mrs. Dale Bergren (Lois) of Red Oak, Iowa. James A. Neal of Nodaway, Iowa, and Frances Irene who died at the age of one year. Besides his wife and children, he is survived by a sister, Mrs. Elmer Gray of Villisca, 23 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. Albert was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister, an infant daughter, and one grandson.
