Watson, was born at Georgetown Brown county, Indiana on October 12, 1837, and passed away at his home in Vermillion, Kansas on November 19, 1911 at the age of 74 years, 1 month and 7 days. Mr. Watson came to Kansas in 1857 and homesteaded on Vermillion Creek, just northeast of Vermillion. He enlisted in Co. G. 13th Kansas and served for three years. He went to Indiana and married Frances Hutchinson in May 1867. Mr. and Mrs. Watson returned to Kansas and made their home on the little homestead until 1880, when they moved into Vermillion and engaged in the grain business... To this union was born eight children, his wife and six children survive him. all of which were at the funeral with the exception of Oscar, who is in California. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church in Vermillion at 2:00 p.m. on November 21. Interment was in the Vermillion Cemetery, Vermillion, Kansas.
