Packer, 57, was found dead in bed at his home here about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Though he had been failing in health for some months past, he was able to be about, and when he retired for the night appeared to be in his usual heath. Packer, 57, was found dead in bed at his home here about 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Though he had been failing in health for some months past, he was able to be about, and when he retired for the night appeared to be in his usual heath. He had been dead only a short time, when discovered by his wife. Born November 20, 1871, he came to Nebraska when a small child, the family locating in Gage county, near Diller. On August 2, 1905, he was united in marriage with Dora Soffell, who survives him. In 1918, Mr. and Mrs. Packer came to Hall county, locating on a farm five miles northeast of Wood River, where they resided until six months ago, failing health forcing him to give up active work. Since then they have resided in Wood River. Besides his widow, he is survived by four brothers, C. J. Packer, of Bellville, Kas., H. A., of Diller, W. H., of Wood River, J. F., of Brandon, Colo., and two sisters, Mrs. A. Frisbie?, Hereford, Texas, and Mrs. John Greida, of Diller. Short services were to be held from the home at 3:30 p.m. Monday, Rev. Hugh McColl, of the Presbyterian church, officiating. After the service, the body was to be taken overland to Diller, where services and burial will be held Tuesday afternoon.
