Mister, aged 86 years, a highly esteemed resident of Asbury District, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William A. Barnes, in Crisfield on Sunday last, after a lingering illness. James Mister, Well-known Asbury Man, Passes Away At Home Of Daughter Capt. James H. Mister, aged 86 years, a highly esteemed resident of Asbury District, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. William A. Barnes, in Crisfield on Sunday last, after a lingering illness. A stroke of paralysis which he suffered some time ago, and the infirmities of age, were the cause of his death. In his early life Capt. Mister followed the water for a living, and is said to have caught the first oysters that were shipped in the shell from Crisfield, after the railroad was built to this point. In latter years he followed the vocation of carpentering. He was a well-preserved man for his age, being active until his last illness. For several years the deceased had been a consistent member of Immanuel M.E. Church. Capt. Mister is survived by the following children: Mrs. W.A. Barnes, Mrs. Herbert Milbourne, Mrs. Edw. Tyler, Mrs. Wm. T. Ward, of Wilmington, Del., Messrs. L. Dow Mister, George Mister, Dallas Mister and Norman Mister; one sister, Mrs. J.J. Tull; one brother, George E. Mister; thirty-two grand children and sixteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held from the Barnes home on Wednesday morning, at 9 o'clock, with Rev. John J. Bunting officiating, assisted by Rev. J. Pendleton Scruggs, Rev. T.J. Saul and Rev. Mary P. Garrett. Interment was in Asbury cemetery. The Crisfield Times, Crisfield, Maryland, Saturday, February 2, 1929, p. 5 James H. Mister was the son of John M. Mister and Lovey Mason. He married three times: Zipporah Tyler in 1859, Anna M.F. Lawson on 28 Feb 1866 in Somerset County, MD, and Mary C. Evans on 21 Mar 1870 in Somerset County, MD. He was a seaman. Smith's Island In 1870 by Gail M.
