Description	:	James Jeremiah "Jim" Cronin was the first child of Timothy Joseph Cronin (a horseman) and Ellen "Nellie" Cronin (a teacher). Jim, his four brothers (Fenton, Daniel, Jerry, and Frank), and his sister (Mary Margaret) lived first as a family in Platte Center, Nebraska. The family later relocated to Lyman county, South Dakota where Tim, who had a great love of horses and mules, became a homesteader and rancher. We believe that James Jeremiah Cronin was given his first name in honor of his paternal grandfather, James Cronin, and that his middle name honored father Timothy Joseph's brother who was "Jerry" for Jeremiah Cronin. Both Tim's father, James, and his brother, Jerry, remained in Ireland.
