It was in Platte Center that Tim met and married Nellie (Fenton) Cronin who was the daughter of Simon Finton/Fenton and Mary (Sullivan) Hayes Finton/Fenton. Their marriage sacrament was celebrated in the Catholic church. To their union five sons and one daughter were born. The pall bearers were: Ed Higgins, D.H. Carrig, Thomas H. Lynch, D.P. Mahoney, T.J. Cronin and Eugene Mackin." (note: this came from a newspaper clipping found in the scrapbook of Elizabeth Macken Donoghue; one typo was corrected in the passage above) The family relocated to Lyman County, South Dakota in 1925 or 1926. Timothy Joseph Cronin had a land patent for property there, and moved with his family to establish a ranch as a homesteader. He was a hard working rancher who lived on the homestead for the rest of his life.
