A funeral service was held Saturday, August 7, at 10 a.m. at Schmidt-Baucke Funeral Chapel in Holyoke, with Brother Jim Crouch officiating. Burial was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Mr. Knight was born on October 24, 1915 to William and Lydia [Miller] Knight in Elsie, Nebraska. He attended school there and graduated from high school. Mr. Knight was born on October 24, 1915 to William and Lydia [Miller] Knight in Elsie, Nebraska. He attended school there and graduated from high school. On January 1, 1935 he married Laurine Deal in Elsie. Mr. Knight was a farm hand, postal employee, and an employee of his father's service station and cafe. In 1941 he moved to California where he worked as a carpenter building homes and cabinets. Later the family moved back to a home 20 miles southeast of Holyoke and he was engaged with his son in a carpentry, contracting and cabinet making business. He was a founding member of the Church of Christ in Holyoke. He managed a community ball team and Little League hard ball. He worked with Boy Scouts Troop 32, was a member of the Holyoke City Council for eight years, and on the Sunset View board for 22 years. He enjoyed softball and studying, living and teaching the New Testament. Mr. Knight is survived by two daughters, Bobbie Whittaker and her husband Dick of Holyoke and Lois Smith and her husband Larry of Otis; a son, Pete Knight and his wife Helen of Holyoke; a sister, Pauline Martin of Holyoke; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurine Knight in May 1985; two brothers; and one great-grandchild. Memorial contributions may be made to an organization of the donor's choice.
