Rev. Dale Arnold officiated at the services. Interment was in Holyoke Memorial Park. Lyda Ellen Miller Knight was born October 20, 1890 in Gallatin, Missouri. In 1908, she moved to Nebraska with her family and lived near Elsie until 1933, when they moved into town. She was united in marriage to William Sherman Knight on October 19, 1910, at Grant, Nebraska, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born. They lived in and around Elsie until 1940, when they moved to a ranch southeast of Holyoke. Mr. Knight retired and they moved to Holyoke in 1953. Lyda was a member of the Church of Christ, being baptized into Christ as a young lady. She never missed a Sunday service unless hindered by illness. She was also a member of the Rebecca Lodge No. 155 of Elsie, Nebraska, and would have received her 50 year pin in October. Lyda was preceded in death by her husband, Sherman, two sons, Earl and Leo, and a grandson, Bill Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Pauline, Mrs. Dale Martin; one son, Roy of Holyoke; five sisters, Rose and Eva Terry of Denver, Alma Baker and Mildred Matchett of Holyoke, Vernon Carruthers of Elsie, NE; two brothers, Loren and Ross Miller of Salem, OR; 17 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and many other relatives and friends.
