Highland Recorder October 17, 1924 ARM BROKEN James O. Trimble who has been working with the State road force under A. W. Hevener for some time had his arm broken by a fall at Vanderpool Wednesday. He went to step from the store front to the road truck, missed his footing, and fell, with the result as above stated. The fracture was between the elbow and shoulder, and the unfortunate man, advanced in years, will probably be disabled for sometime. Highland Recorder September 10, 1926 James O. Trimble who had an arm broken while in the employ of the State last year and whose claim for compensation under State provisions has been pending ever since, has heard from Richmond, and ascertains the result of a sitting held here by the state compensation board a few weeks ago. At that time evidence was taken, Mr. Trimble’s physician and other witnesses being examined. It developed from the testimony that he is left with what is termed a 50 percent arm, and has been awarded compensation for 63 weeks, dating back thirteen weeks from the sitting of the court. The allowance is $7.50 per week. Highland Recorder October 14, 1927 James O. Trimble was right painfully hurt last Wednesday by falling from a ladder while apple-picking in his brother’s orchard on Strait Creek. Highland Recorder July 24, 1936 Mr. James O. Trimble well known citizen of the Monterey Community died at his home on the East side of the Monterey Mountain on Friday July 17, 1936, and was buried from the Seybert Chapel Church on the following day, funeral services being conducted by the Rev. A. E. Johnson, Pastor of the Presbyterian Church, of which Mr. Trimble had been a member for a number of years. His wife, who before marriage was Miss Mary Helmick, preceded him in death a number of years ago. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Messrs C. W. Trimble of Monterey, H. I. Trimble of Elkins, W. Va., Mrs. W. E. Armstrong, Rolla Va., and Mrs. L. S. Dickerson, Harrisonburg, Va. Children born to this union, Mrs. Lula Ryder of Mountain Grove, Rawleigh Bridgewater, Luther and Ruben in W. Va., Robert, who makes his home with Mrs. W. M. Trimble near Monterey and Stanley, who lives at the old home place and cared for his father during the latter days of his life. Mr. Trimble born in the year 1863 at the old “Trimble Homestead” on Strait Creek, was more than 72 years of age at the time of his passing, and lived during these many years near the place of his birth, and was a familiar figure in Monterey, where he spent many days of toil, and will be remembered best by those whom he served ts a hard working man. —W.H.L. 1910 Highland County Census James O.
