The adjacent, but separately owned and operated, Evergreen cemetery was established in 1870 and its' burial records are fairly well documented, so that is why it is much more likely that James was buried... (Special note: James committed suicide on Monday, May 1, 1882 by putting himself in the path of an oncoming train near the depot in Fairfield, Iowa. His full obituary contains very graphic details about his death and the coroner's inquest that followed. Those particular paragraphs are omitted from the following transcription due to the graphic details) ......James Orr was a native of Washington County, Penn., and was about seventy-three years of age. His years up to manhood were spent in this native county, and when the Seminole War broke out he enlisted as a soldier in the regular army and served a term of three years. He afterwards returned to Washington County and married a widow lady, by whom he had three children, two of whom, we believe, still survive, one a daughter living in this city. He removed to this county in 1846, purchasing a small farm about two miles southwest of town, where his wife died and where he resided until perhaps ten or twelve years ago. Since that time he has made his home in this city and with friends in this vicinity. For several years he has been quite deaf.....Deceased was a brother of Dr. W. L. Orr, of Ottumwa, with whom he had recently visited for some time, and an uncle of Rev. McClintock, of Burlington. The interment of the remains occurred yesterday, being held at the house of W. H. H.
