STERLING CLAIMED BY DEATH Succumbed Last Saturday After Short Illness Funeral Services Were Held Tuesday James R. Sterling, an old and highly respected resident of this city, died at his home on Somerset Avenue, last Saturday, at the age of seventy-two years. Death came from a complication of diseases, following an illness of about three weeks. The deceased was well known in this community, having spent practically his entire life here. When a young man, he engaged in the seafood business in Crisfield, and was prominently identified with that industry for many years. A few years ago he retired from that business and started a small store, near the new High School, and continued in that line of business until his death. Funeral services were held at Mt. Pleasant Methodist Protestant Church on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the Rev. J. R. McKeawn, pastor of Mariners M. P. Church, of which the deceased was a member, assisted by the Rev. T. J. Sard, pastor of Asbury M. E. Church, and the Rev. W. L. Hoffman, pastor of Mount Pleasant M. P. Church. The services were in charge of the Jr. O. U. A. M. Interment was in the Crisfield cemetery. The deceased is survived by his widow, and the following children, one son, Mr. Roy Sterling, of Washington, D.C., two daughters, Mrs. Charles Hinman, and Mrs. Lee Mears, both of Crisfield. Two brothers, Mr. Jack Sterling, and Mr. George Sterling, and one sister, Mrs. Ella Crockett, all of Crisfield, also survive.
