Description	:	WYTHERS, JAMES RICHARD — James Richard Wythers, son of Loyd and Ruth Wythers, was born September 7, 1921, at Fairmont, Neb. He passed away on January 16, 1973, at the age of 51 years 4 months and 9 days. Read More	WYTHERS, JAMES RICHARD — James Richard Wythers, son of Loyd and Ruth Wythers, was born September 7, 1921, at Fairmont, Neb. He passed away on January 16, 1973, at the age of 51 years 4 months and 9 days. Jim was received in baptism on October 15, 1921, at the congregational Church of Geneva and remained an active member throughout his life. Jim attended School District No. 85 and graduated from Geneva high school in 1939. He entered Army service August 22, 1942. His tour of duty took him to the European Theater Operations of World War II and served with the Corps of Engineers. He was discharged from the service in August 1945. James took up farming with his father and after his father’s retirement, continued farming until his death. He was united in marriage to Beverly Heston of Ohiowa, Neb., on September 3, 1948. To this union was born five children. Jim was a 4-H leader for 12 years, a member of the Madison township board, a member of the County Extension Board and held numerous offices in his church. Jim is survived by his wife Beverly, five children, Steven James, Mark Allen, Todd Lee and Kellee Kay, at home and David Dean of Lincoln; one daughter-in-law, Marcy Jo; and one grandson, Chad James; his mother, Mrs. Harry Ward, and step-father; three sisters, Leta Solt of Lincoln, Evalyn Slepicka of Geneva and Dorothy Otte of Grafton; three brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father. He was a kind and loving father. His home and family were the center of his life and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, January 19, from the First Congregational United Church of Christ at Geneva, with Rev. Delano Spitzer officiating. Tom Bumgarner sang “How Great Thou Art” and “Beyond the Sunset,” accompanied by Mrs. Willard Foster. Pallbearers were Orville Hafer, Maurice Hafer, Donald Kimbrough, Richard Manning, Dean Richards and Joe Schelbitzki. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery.
