Read More	Surname at the time of her death was Ward. WARD, RUTH—Ruth Wythers Ward was born July 23, 1891, at Sacramento, Nebr., and passed away May 21, 1980, in Lincoln at the age of 88. She was the eldest of seven children born to Richard and Christine Hedlund. She spent her early childhood near Ragan, Nebr., and was confirmed into the Swedish Lutheran church at the age of 15. She was united in marriage January 27, 1925 to Loyd Wythers at Ragen. They made their home on a farm seven miles northeast of Geneva, where they lived until November, 1, 1948, when they retired to their new home in Geneva. To this union was born three daughters and one son. Ruth was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, a member of the Rebecca Lodge, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and various clubs. Loyd passed away August 7, 1950. On December 11, 1960, she was united in marriage to Harry Ward. Her home and her family were her pride and joy; she gave of her time and talents to everyone, and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd after 35 years of marriage, her son James and her husband Harry Ward. Ruth is survived by her daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Leta) Solt of Ogallala; Mrs. Fred (Evalyn) Slepicka of Geneva; Mrs. Frank (Dorothy) Otte of Geneva, three sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Beverly Wright of Geneva, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Hilda Komarek of Geneva, Mrs. Elvira Peterson, of Selah Wash., and one brother, Gust Hedlund of Bakersfield, Cal., Harry’s children and grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, at the First Congregation United Church of Christ in Geneva. Burial was in the Geneva public cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 5 June 1980 page 5.
