Description	:	Former Muscotah Editor Sucumbs James Silas Martin, 80, retired newspaperman who had owned newspapers at Muscotah and many other Kansas and Oklahoma towns, died at 12:10 a. m. today at his home in Muscotah after an extended illness. He had been in failing health for the past six years. Mr. Martin was editor and publisher of the Muscotah Daily Record from 1925 until its suspension several years ago, and had published the paper many years a previously. During his career he owned and edited papers at Richmond, Severy, Hudson, Leon, Coates, and Dexter in Kansas, and at Dover and Hennessey in Oklahoma. He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Silas Martin ans was born in the Muscotah neighborhood April,22, 1866. He married Fannie Estes there and they were the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Nellie Stagmier, Colusa, Calif. After his first wife's death he Married Elizabeth Gorman of Piedmont, who survives with a daugter, Miss Evelyn Martin of the home. He was a half brother of the late Joseph Smith, who was fatally burned in a fire at Muscotah six years ago, and was a brother-in-law of R. J. Jones, Muscotah merchant. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. at the Methodist church with the Rev. C. E. Nash officiating. Burial will be in the Muscotah cemetery. Atchison Daily Globe, February 28, 1947
