Pallbearers were Howard King, Thomas Anderson, Ed Davis, George Schmidt, Sylvester Kindelspire and Elmer Anderson. Burial was at Riverside cemetery, Spencer. Out-of-town relatives attending services were Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Roberts and Russell of Sioux Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wegele of Des Moines; A. L. Roberts, Clarence and Harold, of Plover; C. W. Roberts of Rolfe; A. H. Roberts of Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Stout of Cedar Falls; and Mr. and Mrs. Earl Burkholder of Sutherland. J. W. Roberts, a resident of Spencer for the last 28 years, passed away at the Spencer hospital Sunday morning, January 26, after a long illness. Mr. Roberts was born in Warren county, Iowa, July 31, 1871, and died at the age of 75 years, five months and 26 days. He was married to Alice Morris at Springhill, Iowa, December 25, 1896. They moved to a farm in Pocahontas county. To that union was born three children, George W. of Sioux Rapids, Howard R. of Long Beach, and Mrs. Harry Wegele of Des Moines. Their mother died January 26, 1903. Mr. Roberts was married to Cora Adell Stout February 17, 1905. They lived on a farm near Plover until moving to Spencer in February, 1919. He was associated with T. M. Jones & Sons in the grocery business until opening the Robert & Bargloff grocery store, from which he retired in 1928. ‘J. W.', as he was known to his many friends in Pocahontas and Clay counties was a life long member of the Methodist church at Plover. Besides his wife and three children he is survived by two brothers, C. W. Roberts of Rolfe, and A. L. Roberts of Mallard, and three grandchildren, Russell James Roberts of Sioux Rapids and Douglas and Cheryl Roberts of Long Beach, Calif. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
