Read More	WAS EARLY RESIDENT HERE JAMES WHITNEY HAD LIVED IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY SIXTY-FIVE YEARS CAME HER IN YEAR 1855 DIES AT AGE OF EIGHTY-SEVEN James Whitney, one of Montgomery County’s earliest resident died Friday evening at 7 o’clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Nora Ferris in Villisca, his death resulting from old age complications. He had lived in this county sixty-five years, having come here from Indiana in 1856, settling on a farm near Sciola where he continued to reside until five years ago, when he came to Villisca to make his home. He was born in Richland County, Ohio on May 16, 1833, and when he was seven years old he moved with his parents to Brown County, Indiana. There he grew to manhood and in the year of 1855 was united in marriage to Mary Helms, coming soon afterwards to Montgomery County to reside. Five children were born to this union. Two daughters died in infancy, and one son, Frank M. died in May 1908. The surviving children are Mrs. Nora Ferris and J. A. Whitney of Villisca. His wife died in March 1908. Mr. Whitney was the seventh member of a family of ten children, all of whom are deceased except one, Mrs. F. M. Redmon of Elliott, who was present at the funeral which was held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o’clock at the Sciola Baptist Church of which congregation Mr. Whitney was a member and a trustee since its organization. The funeral was in charge of Rev. Sigler, pastor of the Baptist Church of Cumberland and burial was in Memorial Cemetery, just west of Morton Mills. Elder S. E. Coleman of Villisca assisted, Rev.
