Description	:	James Wilbur Hollingsworth, son of Levi and Nancy Ramsey Hollingsworth was born at Tippacanoe, Ohio December 31, 1861 and departed this life at his home on Friday, August 13th, 1948, at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 13 days. Read More	James Wilbur Hollingsworth, son of Levi and Nancy Ramsey Hollingsworth was born at Tippacanoe, Ohio December 31, 1861 and departed this life at his home on Friday, August 13th, 1948, at the age of 86 years, 7 months, and 13 days. He might be truly called one of our pioneers, coming from Ohio when a very small child. The family resided in Indiana and at the age of 14 years he and an older brother drove in a covered wagon on into Iowa, crossing the Mississippi River on the ice, which went out only a few hours after their crossing. The family followed in a a few months later and they settled in Adams County. On September 4th, 1890, he was united in marriage to Minnie E. Moore at Onawa, Iowa. They returned to establish their home at Mt. Etna. To this union were born two children, Harold, who died in infancy and Mrs. Aurel Jett. His wife preceded him in death only five months ago and his son-in-law J. Ernest Jett passed away a year ago. Besides his daughter, he is survived by three grandsons, Harold K. of Tensile, James D. of Los Angeles, and Garnett H. of Shreveport, LA. There are also eight great grandchildren and a wide circle of friends. Of his immediate family, all have passed away with the exception of a sister, Mrs. Sara Perryman of El Monte, California, who visited him only a few weeks ago. As a man, Mr. Hollingsworth's life was above reproach. He was just and honest in all his dealings with his fellow men. He had lived in Nodaway since 1907 and conducted a general store until about six years ago. He united with the Presbyterian Church in 1914, and had deep religious convictions until his death. Those who knew him best found him to have many commendable virtues. Funeral services were held Monday, August 16, 1948, at 2:30 p.m. in the Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wayne Sheffel in charge. Music by Mrs. Sheffel and Mrs. Everett with Mrs. Stalder at the piano. Pall bearers were Charles Wood, Frank Arnott, Henry Howard, Ray McCoy, John Strain, and Gordan Dalgetty.
