Description	:	OBITUARY: James Wiliam Bartosh, son of Wesley and Anna Schroeder Bartosh, was born on March 19, 1897 in Roosevelt Township, Pocahontas County. James was educated in Pocahontas area schools. James served in the U.S. Army during WW I. On June 7, 1927, he married June Slutter at Charles City. They made their home on a farm near Pocahontas. James retired in 1963 and continued to live on the farm until 1979, when they moved into Pocahontas. James was a charter member of the Pocahontas American Legion. James served in the U.S. Army during WW I. On June 7, 1927, he married June Slutter at Charles City. They made their home on a farm near Pocahontas. James retired in 1963 and continued to live on the farm until 1979, when they moved into Pocahontas. James was a charter member of the Pocahontas American Legion. He served the Legion on the Firing Squad for 23 years and was a Past Commander. He was a committeeman and corn sealer for the A.S. C. S. office for 25 years. James also served on the St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church Board and was on the building committee of the Pocahotnas Catholic Elementary School. He helped organize Senior Citizens and served as president for a number of years. Surviving are his wife, June; daughters, Mrs. Clifford (Marcella) Smith, Pocahontas and Mrs. Phil (Mary Lou) Clendenen, Humboldt; a son James D. Bartosh, Pocahontas; twelve grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and a brother, Benjamin Bartosh of Pocahontas. James was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Henry Bartosh and three infant grandsons. Contributed by Teresa Davis
