Robert Tilford Gilmer, her brother) on East Burlington street last Wednesday night at ten o'clock occurred the death, from diabetis (sic), of his sister, Mrs. Jane H. Ross, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Ross had not been able to be down staris since the Christmas holidays and had been confined to her bed for over eight months. Robert Tilford Gilmer, her brother) on East Burlington street last Wednesday night at ten o'clock occurred the death, from diabetis (sic), of his sister, Mrs. Jane H. Ross, after an illness of several months. Mrs. Ross had not been able to be down staris since the Christmas holidays and had been confined to her bed for over eight months. Her sufferings had been very great for a few weeks before her death until the last week of her life, when she had slept almot constantly. Her maiden name was Gilmer and she was born in Adair county, Kentucky, December 4, 1815, coming to Iowa with her parents in 1838 after a short sojourn in Illinois. Since then she had made her home in this county, marrying in 1855 S. S. Ross (sic. Sulifand Sutherland Ross), who died in 1856, a year and two months after marriage. Mrs. Ross had lived in this city for about twenty years, making her home with Mr. Gilmer. The funeral took place from the residence Friday afternoon at three o'clock, Rev. C. L. Coons, of the Christian church, conducting the services.
