Description	:	JANE “JENNIE” ORR Jane Orr arrived at Ellis Island from Liverpool aboard the Etruria on 11 Dec 1893 with her mother and siblings. She married Casper Gonser, the son of Matheus Gonsior (1817-1896) and Sophia Lubinski, a native of Germany in 1897 in Belt, Montana. Casper came to America with his family, first to Minnesota and then on to the Belt, Montana area in 1895, he was ~20 years old. Casper worked as a machinist at that time. Jennie and Casper met in Belt. Jennie is the sister of Elizabeth “Lizzie” Orr. After their marriage they established and maintained their home in Belt. All of their children were born in Belt. Casper farmed in the Waltham country. Later they moved to Great Falls, Montana. Casper and Jennie have five children. Son, Casper Gonser, Jr. was Great Falls park superintendent; daughter, Ruth (Mrs Howard Lease) was the dramatics consultant to the Junior Leagues of America; son, Arthur was on the faculty of the University of Denver; son, Earl was a section manager for J.C. Penney; and son, Thomas was the developmental consultant at the College of Great Falls, he later went to Northwestern University. The children established the Casper and Jennie Orr Gonser Memorial Book Fund at the College of Great Falls. Casper passed away in 1945 in Monterey, CA and Jennie died in 1955 in Seattle, Washington. - From Belt Valley History by Ethel Castner Kennedy and Eva Lesbell Stober Obituary: Monterey Peninsula Herald, CA July 26, 1955 page 2 Mrs. Jennie Orr Gonser died suddenly July 22 at her Seattle, Washington home. Burial services will be held in Monterey. Mrs. Gonser was 79. She was born in Airdrie, Scotland and came to the United States as a child. She lived many years in Great Falls, Montana, moving to Monterey when her husband retired. Mrs. Gonser moved to Seattle from Monterey three years ago after the death of her husband, Casper. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Monterey. Mrs. Gonser is survived by her five sons, Thomas A. Gonser, Evanston, Ill., Casper Gonser, Great Falls, Mont.; William Gonser, Berkeley; Earl Gonser, Bakersfield and Arthur Gonser, Denver; a daughter, Mrs. Howard Lease of Seattle; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services are pending at the Dorney and Farlinger Funeral Home.
