Description	:	Jean Dunlop was born in November 1837 in Ayrshire, Scotland. Jean was the eldest daughter and one of seven children born to John Dunlop (1811- 1880) and Margaret Wilson Gibson (1809-1867). She immigrated to the US with her family when she was in her teens. Sources indicate that the immigration took place sometime around 1854. The family appears in the 1855 Massachusetts State Census as living in Topsfield, Essex, MA. They had a farm on the 3rd concession Lot 19. The couple had five (5) children: Margaret (m. Rintoul- 1861-1889), Agnes (1867-1950), Daniel (1870-1951), Grace (1875-1931) and David Rintoul (1877-1955). Jeanie died on February 27, 1899 at the age of 61. Her husband Thomas died the day before on February 26, 1899. An obituary posted in the Orangeville Sun on March 2, 1899 indicates that the couple had tragically fallen ill with 'la grippe' and succumbed to the illness rather quickly. Thomas and Jeanie are buried in the Burns Cemetery near Mono, Ontario.
