Fairfield, Feb. 14.–One of the saddest deaths which has occurred in Fairfield for some time was that of Mrs. Jennie Coop-Kaliff which occurred Thursday night shortly after 10 o’clock at the home of her mother, Mrs. Lafayette Coop, northwest of this city. Mrs. Kaliff succumbed to an operation for appendicitis which she under went Thursday morning. Mrs. Kaliff was the youngest daughter of the late Lafayette Coop and wife and was called here from home in Spokane, Washington, just twenty days ago by the death of her father. Although ill when she received the message calling her home she made the long trip and stood the sad service wonderfully well. Then she remained with her mother in order to gain strength for an operation which she had long needed but seemingly dreaded. Her young husband was called here only a few days ago to be with her during the operation. Jennie Coop-Kaliff was born in Penn township, Jefferson county, January 10, 1888 and spent her entire life here with the exception of the past year when she went to Spokane, Wash., to make her home. For eleven years she was an excellent instructor in the Jefferson county schools, having charge of the kindergarten work in Fairfield for a part of that time. On May 27, 1918, she was united in marriage to J. Elmer Kaliff and only last year they went to the western city which has since been their home. She leaves to mourn her untimely death, her husband, her mother and five brothers and sisters, Mrs. John Belville of Washington, Mrs. W.D. Thompson of Des Moines, Mrs. Gus Flinspach of near this city, Miss Myrtle Coop of Washington, D.C., and A.L. Coop of near Fairfield. The funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock at the Antioch church near her old home and as far as possible the service will be indentical [sic] to that held in the same place for her father only three weeks ago. The interment will take place in the Antioch cemetery.
