Description	:	Jennie May Phelps, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Phelps of Cimarron, Kans. was born in Finney county about 20 miles north of Cimarron Nov 6th, 1890. She subsequently moved with the family to Gray county, Kansas, where she continued to reside until her marriage. She was married to James F. Gearhart on the 1st day of June, 1913. To this union three children were born – Bruce, age 4, Galen age 2, and “Baby” aged 25 days. Phelps of Cimarron, Kans. was born in Finney county about 20 miles north of Cimarron Nov 6th, 1890. She subsequently moved with the family to Gray county, Kansas, where she continued to reside until her marriage. She was married to James F. Gearhart on the 1st day of June, 1913. To this union three children were born – Bruce, age 4, Galen age 2, and “Baby” aged 25 days. From childhood, deceased was inclined to the things of God as expressed in the Sunday School and the church and her early life found expression in the Methodist church and Sunday school, where she took a live interest in religious activities. After her marriage and removal to Englewood she united with the Christian church, where she worked with that splendid devotion which began to be manifest at an early age. She was a teacher in the Englewood Chistian [sic] Sunday school and took a great interest in her loving task. She taught in the public schools for a number of terms, and her work was of the same high character which characterized all that she undertook. She was a rare spirit and will be greatly missed. She died at 12:30 A.M., Oct. 16th, 1918, at the age of 27 years, nine months and 16 days. She leaves to mourn her loss a husband and three little children, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Phelps, three brothers, Ernest, Harry and Theodore Phelps, and five sister, Mrs. Ada Grant, Mrs. Ollie Rowton, Edith, Besse and Pearl Phelps; besides a host of friends to mourn her untimely going.
