Description	:	Obit: Jennie Clark, daughter of James and Janette Clark, was born near Glasgow, Scotland July 19, 1854, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A.C. Powell, near Pierson, Iowa, August 30, 1927, aged 73 years, 1 month and 11 days. At about the age of 14 she came from Scotland with her mother and brother to Sterling, Illinois, her father having died when she was four years old. Powell, near Pierson, Iowa, August 30, 1927, aged 73 years, 1 month and 11 days. At about the age of 14 she came from Scotland with her mother and brother to Sterling, Illinois, her father having died when she was four years old. In 1882 she married Thomas Hodge and came with him to Grand Meadow Township where she has made her home since. To them were born three sons and three daughters: Mrs. Nettie P. Powell of Pierson, Mrs. Anna M. Lease of Wentworth, South Dakota, George M. of Washta, Mrs. Agnes S. Crippen of Afton, Iowa, Will C. of Sioux City and Thomas H. of Washta. At about age 12 she was converted and united with the Presbyterian Church in Scotland. February 1886 she, with her husband, united with the Morning Star Evangelical Church of which she remained a faithful member until her death. During the 45 years she has lived here, Mrs. Hodge has won the confidence and esteem of this community. With her husband she shared the hardships and privations of early pioneer life. She was preceded by her husband November 18, 1919, and one sister who died in infancy. She is survived by her three sons, three daughters, a brother, James Clark of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and 15 grandchildren. Funeral services were held in the Morning Star Evangelical Church conducted by Rev. L.E. Crippen, assisted by the pastor, Rev. G.H. Bammer. Interment was in Grand Meadow Cemetery.
