"Ace" Rethwisch, 69, of Lewellen died Sunday, May 17, 2009, at Garden County Hospital in Oshkosh. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Holechek Funeral Home Chapel in Oshkosh. Jerry was born on April 18, 1940, in Tilden to Millard and Jean (Carlisle) Rethwisch. He grew up and received his education in Tilden, graduating from high school in 1958. After school Ace worked for the forest service in Oregon. He moved back to Nebraska and worked for Neely and Askwith Construction and began his career as a crane operator. On Jan. 27, 1960, Ace enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division stationed out of Ft. Bragg, N.C. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 25, 1963, and returned to work as a crane operator. He married Sharon Leu in 1963, and to this union a son, Rick, was born. The couple later divorced. He worked for Norfolk Bridge before operating cranes for the power plant in Sutherland. Ace married Leanna Graham on May 10, 1976. With this marriage Chris joined the family. Ace and Leanna divorced, and Chris remained with Ace. He continued to operate cranes all over the United States and semi-retired at the age of 62. During his working years Ace would take the summers off and ride his Harley and go back to work in the winter. He had a love for riding and took every opportunity to do so. He also enjoyed working in the yard and planting flowers. He had a love for his cats and especially enjoyed his cat Georgia. He is survived by his sons, Rick and life partner Mary, Chris and wife Beth; grandchildren Madison, Lauren and Logan; brothers Tom and Rich and his wife, Cathi; nieces and nephews, Roark, Nilsa, Cali, Gage and Luke; and grandnephews Baylen and Tate.
