Description	:	ELLIS, JESSE M.—Jesse M. Ellis of Geneva passed away at the York General hospital Tuesday, March 22, 1960, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 23 days. He had been in ill health several months. Jesse was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Ellis, among the first homesteaders in York county, Nebraska. He was born May 29, 1875. Read More	ELLIS, JESSE M.—Jesse M. Ellis of Geneva passed away at the York General hospital Tuesday, March 22, 1960, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 23 days. He had been in ill health several months. Jesse was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Ellis, among the first homesteaders in York county, Nebraska. He was born May 29, 1875. March 5, 1902 he was united in marriage to Miss Dollie Price of near Fairmont at Fairmont. To this union were born two children, Mrs. Vadah Russell of Lincoln and Kenneth of Geneva. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis farmed in York county until 1923, when they moved to Geneva. Mr. Ellis was employed at the Fillmore county shop many years, retiring four years ago when he reached the age of 80. Mrs. Ellis preceded her husband in death October 11, 1959. They had been married 57 years. Mr. Ellis is survived by his two children, seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Lillis Russell and Mrs. Eva Price, both of York. Mr. Ellis was a member of Frist Methodist church of Geneva, joining soon after moving here. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m., Friday, March 25, at the Kritner-Farmer funeral home in Geneva, Rev. Alden b. Sears officiated. Ralph Reemts, soloist, sang “The Old Rugged Cross” and “In the Garden.” Mrs. Willard foster was accompanist. Pallbearers were Alvin Biester, Walter Doremus, John Linnert, Ed McCluskey, Les Shuster and Albert Tobiassen. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal 31 March 1960 page 9.
