Jessie Ruth (Hildreth) Morrill was born July 14, 1898 near Winnetoon to James A. and Carrie (French) Hildreth. She attended school at Winnetoon and rural school near Bazile Mills and in Logan Township west of Creighton. After completing the eighth grade, she worked as a hired girl on a ranch and did domestic work caring for the sick, elderly and new babies. She married Roy Morrill on June 12, 1918 at O'Neill. During their first year of marriage, she live with Roy's parents while he served in the Army during World War I. After her husband's return home, they lived on the home place until 1939, when they purchased a nearby farm. In 1956, they moved to Creighton, where they had built a home. He husband died in 1965 and she continued to live in her home until 1994. She was a resident for a brief time at Creighton Care Centre and since 1994 had resided at Lundberg Memorial Hospital. She was a member of the Methodist Church, having joined in 1916 when services were held at the Mars schoolhouse and a member of the United Methodist Women. She was also a member of the VFW, American Legion and Lundberg Memorial Hospital Auxiliaries, having served in several offices in those organizations. She was very patriotic and faithfully exercised her right to vote, using the absentee ballot in her later years. She also enjoyed reading newspapers. Survivors include her sons and spouses, Keith of Royal, Wendell and Leta, Dale and Carol and Robert and Norma all of Creighton; 16 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Hazel Clare of Milaca, MN and Bessie Haag of Dalbo, MN and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Gene and Max; two daughters-in-law; a granddaughter; two great grandchildren; her parents; a sister the three brothers.
