Parents were Georg Friedrich Theodor & Christina Elisabeth (Maass) Winter ******* Grand Island Daily Independent Tuesday 8 April 1919 p. 5 Death OF Frederick Winter Frederick Winter, long time resident of Hall County, and for the past ten years a resident of the city of Grand Island has passed away at the age of approximately 80 years. Mr. winter was born in Germany in 1839, was married in that country, but at the age of 30 years brought his wife and family of small children to America, first locating near Peoria, Ills., where he pursued farming for thirteen years. He came to Hall county on November 18, 1882, purchasing land in Lake township and following the occupation of agriculture up to the time of his retirement ten years ago. At that time, he disposed of his lands to his sons, purchased a resident property in this city and has lived in Grand Island ever since. Eight years ago his faithful helpmate through the years passed away. He now leaves surviving him six children: Mrs. Stange, residing in Grand Island, Mrs. James Weaver, residing in Kansas, Mrs. William Buchow, residing near this city, Charles and John winter, twins, and Albert Winter. In the recent past he has been residing with his son, John, at 104 West 9th street, and the funeral will take place from the home on Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Mr. Schumann officiating. Interment will be made in Weigert cemetery besides the remains of his wife. Death was caused by old age and dropsy. Always an upright conscientious and industrious citizen, he leaves a host of friends who will ever revere his memory.
