Read More	LONG ILLNESS IS FATAL TO CHILD Rites Are Held Here Monday Afternoon For Jo Ann Evonne Smith Jo Ann Evonne Smith passed away Thursday evening, December 13, 1951 at the home of her parents, southeast of town, at the age of 5 years 4 months and 2 days, alter an illness of about 18 months, much of which was spent in the hospital. She was given all the medical and loving care possible, all through her prolonged illness she never complained. Jo Ann was born August 11, 1946, at Akron, Iowa, to Robert, and Mona Smith, where she spent the entire time of her short life. She had enrolled in kindergarten class at Akron public school, also attended Sunday school when her health permitted. Her pleasant and gracious personality won for her a host of friends, who sympathize deeply with her parents and sister in their bereavement. Left to mourn her departure are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Smith; a sister, Marilyn Kay; also her maternal grandmother, Mrs. A.L. Rozell; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Smith, and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Wesley Methodist church in Akron, Monday, December 17, at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. H. Myron Braun officiating. Mrs. Virginia Swift sang, with accompaniment by Mrs. Harry Nelson. Burial was in the Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were four cousins of the deceased, Eugene Harbeck, Clifford Johnson, and Duane and Daryl Smith.
