Read More	Johan Petter Larsson Blomster was born April 26, 1843 in Edsvära, Skaraborg, Västergötland, Sweden, which is a few miles southwest of Fyrunga, to Lars Petterson and Annika Andersdotter. His birth name was Johan Petter Larsson. When he was 13 years old, Johan had moved to Fyrunga. However, at the age of 18 he was a dräng for his brother, Anders, back in Edsvära. At the age of 25, after Johan married Greta Andersdotter on June 10, 1868, he lived on a small farm called Lilla Noleby, a couple of miles west of Fyrunga. Lilla means “little” in Swedish and Noleby was perhaps the landowner of the property. There is a picture attached of the small house where the family lived. In addition, there was a small barn and several out-buildings. Johan was accepted as a soldier in the Swedish Army at the age of 32 years 2 months on January 12, 1866 and was a career soldier. His number was SK-00-0672-1866. Soldiers (soldat) protected the farm and worked on the farm, but would go to war for the farm owner if Sweden went to war. Soldiers typically retired around the age of 45-50 years of age and then received a small pension. He was given the name of Blomster by the Swedish Army, as there were too many common Swedish names, like Larsson, at the time. His father’s name was Lars Pettersson, so his name was changed from Larsson (Lars’ son) to Blomster. Since Sweden did not go to war, Johan remained and worked on the Lilla Noleby farm. The attached picture of Johan was taken from the Fryunga Parish history book. He and his family were members of the Fyrunga Kyrka. Johan married Greta Andersdotter in Laske-Vedum, Skaraborg, Västergötland on June 10, 1868. They had seven children: Lars Alfrid, Karl Alfred, Selma Maria, Lars Albin, Anton Vilhelm, Frans Oscar and Anna Olivia. Lars Alfrid died when he was only 12 days old. Greta died on November 12, 1887 from tuberculosis (it was called lungsot in Swedish, which translates to “consumption”, which is TB). He married his second wife, Maja Stina Falk (1855-1949) on September 18, 1888 when he was 45 years old. Maja Stina Falk was born on June 17, 1855 in Larv, Sweden (Skaraborgs lan, Västergötland), a little southeast of Vara. Maja and Johan had three children: Hanna Elisabet, Karin Natalia and John Johan Gabriel. After retiring and receiving a small pension from the Army, Johan and Maja ended up living in a Poor House, called Alderdomshemmet about a mile west of the Fyrunga Kyrka. Eight of nine living children of Johan immigrated to America, including one as young as 7 years old who emigrated with a 15-year old girl who lived at another poor house! Johan committed suicide (sjalvmord) on June 8, 1918 in the Alderdomshemmet toilet by slashing his wrists with his soldier’s sword. He lived to be 75 years old. Självmördare is a person who has committed suicide. There is no grave currently for Johan at Fyrunga. If nobody remained to care for the grave, it was normal to reuse the grave site at a later date.
