Description	:	Chester Herald-Sept. 5, 1907 Johann Christain (sic) Kuhlman (sic) was born Dec. 28th, 1846 in Reilingen, Province Holstein, Germany. Died, Aug. 29, 1907 at Chester, Neb. Funeral services in English and German were held Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at the Lutheran church, where but half the freinds of the deceased could gain entrance. The remains, followed by one of the largest processions ever seen in our little city, where laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery. At the age of 23 Mr. Kuhlman left his fatherland to cast his lot in America-working in New York-then in Illinois, where he was married to Miss Minna Block, and to their union were born 11 children, 9 together with their mother being left to mourn his loss. Eight years ago Mr. Kuhlman came to Nebraska. In his death his family has sustained a severe loss-a kind, loving, examplary (sic) husband and father. But not only his family, but the Lutheran church-yes the community at large-has been deprived of an active, upright, faithful member and citizen. He lived, he died a christian, declared himself ready to go, looked death in the face cheerfully without terror-trusting not in his deeds and righteousness, but in that salvation, Jesus Christ, prepared by God before the face of all people. Funeral texts were, German, "There remaineth therefor a rest to the people of God." English: "Lord now lettest thou they servant depart in peace.
