Description	:	Lewis Henry Kuhlmann was born December 18, 1894, in Broadlands, Ill., the son of John Christian and Minnie Block Kuhlmann. He was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran church (sic) at Broadlands. In 1899, he came to Nebraska with his parents where they lived on a farm two miles west of Chester. At the age of 13, he was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church (sic) at Chester. Read More	Lewis Henry Kuhlmann was born December 18, 1894, in Broadlands, Ill., the son of John Christian and Minnie Block Kuhlmann. He was baptized in infancy in the Lutheran church (sic) at Broadlands. In 1899, he came to Nebraska with his parents where they lived on a farm two miles west of Chester. At the age of 13, he was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church (sic) at Chester. He remained on the farm until 25 years ago, when he moved into town and lived with mother, sister, Ida and brother, Edgar. His mother passed away in 1939. He continued to farm and raise cattle with his brother, Walter, until his sudden death on Monday evening, February 1, 1954, at 5:30 p.m. Death came at the age of 59 years, 1 month, and 7 days, when he was doing chores as a result of a heart attack. Mr. Kuhlmann was a loyal church member of St. John's, having served for over 20 years as its treasurer ans as church elder the past six years. He will be missed by his brothers, Edgar, Chris, and Walter of Chester; sisters, Ida of Chester, Mrs. Albert Messman of Champaign, Ill., Mrs. William Zenke of Urbana, Ill.; nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Arthur and Fred, and by three brothers who died in infancy. Funeral services were held February 4 at St. John's Lutheran church (sic) with the Rev. E.B. Hilst officiating. Burial was in the St. John's cemetery (sic).
