Description	:	Mrs. Minnie Kuhlmann, nee Block, was born January 1, 1856, at Champaign, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained a faithful member of the Lutheran church all her life. On the 25th of June, 1873, she was married to J. Christian Kuhlmann in Champaign, Ill., where they lived till in the spring of 1899 when they moved to Chester, Nebraska. Here they both spent the rest of their life. Read More	Mrs. Minnie Kuhlmann, nee Block, was born January 1, 1856, at Champaign, Illinois. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and remained a faithful member of the Lutheran church all her life. On the 25th of June, 1873, she was married to J. Christian Kuhlmann in Champaign, Ill., where they lived till in the spring of 1899 when they moved to Chester, Nebraska. Here they both spent the rest of their life. On August 29, 1907, her husband died, leaving her a widow for the last 32 years of her life. Of her nine children, one son, Fred, preceded her into eternity of July 19, 1936. Her last years she spent under declining health in the loving care of her daughter, Ida. She died Nov. 30, 1939, at the age of 83 years, 10 months and 29 days. The closer relatives surviving her are her sons, Arthur, Edgar, Christian, Lewis and Walter, who with her daughter, Ida, live in or near Chester; and the daughters, Mrs. Leora Messman of Champaign, Ill., and Mrs. Maggie Zenke of Broadlands, Ill. She also had 17 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kuhlmann of North Platte, Nebr., and Mrs. Amelia Kuhlmann of Wichita, Kans., and a brother, Fred Block of Longview, Ill. also survive her, besides a large number of other relatives and friends. Her funeral was held at St. John's Lutheran church (sic) of Chester, and she was buried in the Lutheran cemetery one mile east of Chester. Her pastor, the Rev. O.W. Juengel, basing his funeral address on Hebrew chapter 4, verse 9, spoke of the rest that remaineth to the people of God. "There is an hour of peaceful rest, To mourning wand'rers given; There is a joy for souls distressed, A balm for ev'ry wounded breast; 'Tis found above in heaven."
