The deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, June 21, 1844. During the year 1853 his parents with three of their children came to this country and settled near Grand Meadow, Clayton County, Iowa. At this place he was educated and confirmed. In 1867 he married Louise Hackmann of that place. After forty-six years of wedded life his beloved wife was taken from him on Jan 27, 1913. Their union was blessed with eleven children. About forty-five years ago the couple moved to Seward County, Neb., and located in the vicinity where he lived until his departure from this life. About nine months ago he became a victim of cancer of the liver and suffered until January 28 of this year, when he died at age of 69 years, 7 months, and 7 days. He is survived by five sons, four daughters, thirty-two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A very large number of neighbors and friends gathered at the local church with the relatives to participate with them in paying their last tribute to the departed. From his former home in Iowa, the following relatives had come: Mr. and Mrs John Ruckdaschel, wife and two children; Wm. Dickmann and Anna, sister of the deceased, and William Breitspacher, a nephew. He married Louise Hackmann 14 Feb 1867 in Clayton Center, Clayton, Iowa.
