Moeller Dates on Tombstone = 10 July 1842 - 9 Mar. 1925 Spouse = Casper Moeller Maiden Name = Johanna Langemeier Obituary The Hooper Sentinel March 12, 1925 Mrs. Casper Moeller Summoned by Death Monday News that came as somewhat of a surprise to most Hooper people and friends of the Casper Moeller family was the announcement Monday afternoon that Mrs. Moeller had passed away at the home in this city shortly after the noon hour that day. Death followed an illness of a week's duration and was due to ailments incident to old age, she having attained the venerable age of 82 years, 7 months and 29 days. As Johanna Langemeier, she was born at Westfalia, Germany, on July 10, 1842. There she grew to womanhood and in 1867 became the bride of Casper Moeller, and thus fifty- eight years of happy companionship is broken by her death. In 1869 she and Mr. Moeller came to America and settled on the farm three miles north of Hooper that is now occupied by the son, John H. C. For forty years this farm remained her home, enduring during that time all of the vicissitudes accompanying pioneer days and then the comforts that came with the years of toil and perseverance of the early day settlers. 1909 found her and Mr. Moeller retiring from the farm and moving to town to enjoy the sunset of life in the ease and comfort they so richly deserved. Since then our little city had continuou sly been her home. But the joy of the new home was somewhat saddened for her through blindness that came upon her about nine years ago, the duties of the home being looked after by her daughter, Mrs. E. G. Niebuhr. But in spite of her great affliction she was ever patient and became resigned to her fate of darkness. Of kindly disposition, gracious and friendly, she constantly added to her golden-chain of friendships and there were many who recognized her sterling worth. Always patient, loving and kind, more concerned about others than herself, a loving devoted wife and mother, a gentle Christian friend, she leaves a vacant place that cannot be filled. She was the mother of eight children, a daughter, Anna, and two sons, William and August, preceding her in death. The surviving children are C. Henry, John H. C., Mrs. E. J. Rink and Mrs. E. G. Niebuhr, all of this locality, and Mrs. J. H. Hartenberger of Red Bud, Ill. These and the aged husband have the deep sympathy of the community in their hour of bereavement. She is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren and eleven great- grandchildren. The funeral services for this estimable and beloved woman will be held this Thursday afternoon, with services first at one o'clock at the late home and at two o'clock at St. John's Lutheran church, 5 miles north of Hooper, of which she was a devout member. The pastor, Rev. Thoe. Norden, will conduct the services. In respect to Mr. Moeller, who has long been a director and for some years its president, the Dodge County Bank will close its doors during the hours of the funeral.
