Description	:	Boone County Democrat January 16, 1913 Mrs. Michal Welsh, one of the old residents and respected citizens of Harrison township, passed away at her home near Mackey on Saturday morning at 3:30 o'clock. Death was due to a complication of diseases and the deceased was 67 years of age at the time of her death. The funeral was held on Monday morning from her late residence and a large cortege of mourners came to this city and attended the funeral services at the Church of the Sacred Heart, which were held at 10:30 o'clock. Death was due to a complication of diseases and the deceased was 67 years of age at the time of her death. The funeral was held on Monday morning from her late residence and a large cortege of mourners came to this city and attended the funeral services at the Church of the Sacred Heart, which were held at 10:30 o'clock. Rev. F.C. Renier, of Ames, the deceased's pastor, said the last sad rites and funeral mass was celebrated with music by the church choir. The remains were laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery southwest of the city. The pall bearers were, D.P. Ivis, James Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, Joseph Cox, John Lyons and P.J. McCoy, all old friends and neighbors of the deceased. Mrs. Welsh, nee Johanna Kennedy, was born in the County Kerry, Ireland, in 1845. She came to this country in 1857, and settled at Holyoke, Massachusetts. Later she removed to Bureau county, Illinois, and in 1863 was united in marriage to Michal Welsh at Mendota. To this union nine children were born, two being dead, Bridget and Patrick, who are buried in Illinois. Those surviving are, John of Los Angeles, Michael of Burke, Idaho, Pierce of Missouri Valley, David, Edward, Margaret and Mary in this county. Mr. and Mrs. Welsh came to Boone county in 1875 and she has made her home ever since on the homestead in Harrison township. Mr. Welsh has been dead a number of years. The family of the deceased have the sympathy of their many friends in their bereavement.
