Services will be 10:30 a.m. MDT Monday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Elgin, with the Rev. John Amundson officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Elgin. Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. MDT Sunday at Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin, and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Johanna Rivinius was born on July 7, 1914, in what was then Morton County, 21 miles southeast of Elgin, to Carl and Rosina (Seidler) Rivinius. The family farmed south of Heil where she helped with the farming. She attended country school until the eighth grade. On Dec. 18, 1937, in Pretty Rock Township she married Arthur Bruhn on the farm that is now owned by the Boeshans'. They made their home on the farm until 1943 at which time they moved to Elgin, where she was a homemaker and a mother of three children, Arlene, Melvin and Mark. She worked at the hospital as a cook for a while. She cared for many boarders over several years. She was a very avid gardener and raised many flowers. Her husband, Arthur, passed away on Feb. 4, 1986. In October of 1998, Johanna entered Five Counties Nursing Home in Lemmon where she was a resident until her death. She is survived by her daughter, Arlene Bruhn Myster, Maplewood, Minn., her sons, Melvin, Elgin, and Mark, Lemmon; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Sam and Harold Rivinius, both of Elgin, and Rubert Rivinius, Lemmon; and one sister, Alice Iszler, Elgin. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Theodore; and a sister, Alvina Rivinius Wutzke. (Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Elgin)
