Description	:	Rubert Rivinius, 81, Elgin, died Oct. 30, 1999, in the Mott care center. Rubert Rivinius was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Grant County to Carl and Rosina (Seidler) Rivinius. He grew up on the family farm and attended Cowan District Country School. He married Alma Iszler on June 26, 1949. Rubert and Alma farmed south of Elgin for many years. Rubert Rivinius was born Sept. 29, 1918, in Grant County to Carl and Rosina (Seidler) Rivinius. He grew up on the family farm and attended Cowan District Country School. He married Alma Iszler on June 26, 1949. Rubert and Alma farmed south of Elgin for many years. In 1979, they moved to Elgin after his health caused him to retire from farming. Rubert then went to work as a road grader operator for Grant County. He has spent several years in area nursing homes since a severe stroke in 1987 caused his health to deteriorate. He was an avid fisherman and was always ready for a game of Pinochle or Aggravation. He served on the Melville Township Board and was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma; one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Linda Rivinius; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Archie Goodrich, Audrey and Les Beitelspacher; three grandchildren, Melissa (Don) Bleyle, Mike (Robin) Rivinius, Wendy Goodrich; four step-grandchildren, Jeanne, Rory, Naomi and Lyla Beitelspacher; two brothers, Sam and Harold Rivinius; and one sister, Alice Iszler. Rubert was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ted; and two sisters, Alvina Wutzke and Johanna Bruhn.
