Description	:	Johnannes (John) Walters, Sr. of Nodaway township died Saturday from the effect of an operation for hernia. His age was sixty-eight years, seven months, and twenty-five days. The funeral held Sunday at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church at 2 o’clock conducted by Revs. M. Knoll and R. C. Rowley. Interment was in Methodist Grove Cemetery. Besides his wife he leaves four sons and two daughters. They are: William and Clara at home, Mrs. John Hedinger and Henry of Nodaway township, John Jr., of Jasper township and Charles of Cushing, Oklahoma. John was Ben Walter's twin brother. Move from Kernenried to Giez, Vaud, Switzerland. No children after Frederick (born Oct. 1835) were baptized in the Kirchberg church. Birth records of the following children showed the family was living in Giez. John Walter is not on the manifest with the rest of his family. Possibly he came on another ship? 1900 census shows 1853 as year of immigration but that is probably an error.
