Description	:	John Alva Temple was born on Dec. 8, 1856, and died Sept. 13, 1931 at the Chariton hospital , aged 75 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He was the son of William Temple and Mary A. (Courtier) Temple and Washborn in Mitchell Co. , Iowa. He moved to Gosport, Wash Twp., Marion Co.,Iowa in 1865 and resided there continuously with the exception of four years in California, where his father died, and his mother then brought the children back go Gosport, Iowa in Marion Co. Read More	John Alva Temple was born on Dec. 8, 1856, and died Sept. 13, 1931 at the Chariton hospital , aged 75 years, 9 months, and 5 days. He was the son of William Temple and Mary A. (Courtier) Temple and Washborn in Mitchell Co. , Iowa. He moved to Gosport, Wash Twp., Marion Co.,Iowa in 1865 and resided there continuously with the exception of four years in California, where his father died, and his mother then brought the children back go Gosport, Iowa in Marion Co. He was married to Miss Minerva Strahan on Sept. 7, 1883, and to them six children were born, four of them still living. They are; William D. Temple, of Knoxville, Ellen Darrah, Waterloo; Sidney of Russell, Iowa; Robert Orin, of Kellogg, Iowa. There are also nine grandchildren , two brothers, Henry C., and William A., and Mrs. Flora Mitchell, all of Knoxville. Mrs. Temple died August 19, 1910. Mr. Temple became a member of the M.P. church at Gosport in 1891, and remained a consistent believer ever since. He was afflicted with leg infection which caused his death. Funeral services were held on Thursday at 11 o'clock at Gosport. Internment in Gosport cemetery
