April 25th, 1850, and departed this life at his home near Superior, Nebraska, Dec. 16th, 1923, aged 73 years, 7 months, 21 days. April 25th, 1850, and departed this life at his home near Superior, Nebraska, Dec. 16th, 1923, aged 73 years, 7 months, 21 days. Mr. McKee had been in failing health for several months but his condition did not become critical until about a week before the end came. Even the day before his death he was able to be in his chair for a few hours. The end came very rapidly during the last twenty-four hours of his life. On Sabbath afternoon he entered peacefully into the eternal Sabbath of rest. The first nineteen years of his lfie were spent in the East. He was married to Martha E. Patterson on March 11th, 1869. As they started out together in life, they turned their face westward. Their first home in the west was at Clarinda, Iowa, where they lived about three years. Later they lived for a short time in Butler County, Kansas, and then removed to the community near Blanchard, Iowa. In that locality they lived for thirty-two years. In the spring of 1909 they came to Superior, Nebraska and located on the farm north of town where he and faithful wife walked hand in hand and labored together in the service of Christ, and for the interest of their family. Mr. McKee was the father of nine children, all of whom survive him except one, who died in childhood. They are James Cameron, Knox, Mrs. J.E. Wilcox and Mrs. C.E. Adams of Superior, Mrs. G.R. Tippin of Sterling, Kansas, Mrs. George Pratt of Rockford, Washington, Mrs. Alvin Copeland of Greeley, Colorado and Joseph D. of St. Joseph, Mo. Mrs. McKee and all the children except Mrs. Pratt were at his bedside at the time of his death. In addition to the children who were here to attend the funeral were Frank Casper and Mr. and Mrs. McKnight of Albion, Nebr. He is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. He saw God's favor upon his descendants to the third generation. After coming west Mr. McKee united with the Reformed Presbyterian Church and continued faithful to his profession during his entire life. He was a good Bible scholar, a devoted follower of Christ, a loyal supporter of the church, a man of sterling qualities of faith. He rendered a prominent service in the church and gave his best to whatever position he was called. For years he was an efficient teacher in the Sabbath school and served thirty years in the elder-ship at Blanchard, Iowa and for thirteen years in the Superior church. He was sound in his judgment, wise in his counsel and a valuable asset to the church in which he served. He rests from his labors, but his works follow him. "Be ye not slothful, but be ye followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises." Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday morning at ten o'clock conducted by Rev. E.G. Russell of the Covenanter Church. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery (sic).
