SAILOR Goes to His Reward in His 75th Year Thirty Six Year a Respected Resident of Montgomery County At 3:30 Thursday morning, January 5, 191l, John B Sailor peacefully passed away at the home of his youngest daughter, Mrs. J. B. Kimel, of Sciola. Mr. Sailor had been in failing health for about two years, having had a slight stroke of paralysis which affected the left side of his body rendering him quite helpless so that he has not been able to walk since the time without assistance. He bore his affliction with great patience and spent a great deal of his time reading, in which pastime he took much pleasure, until he was confined to his bed about six weeks before the end came. He retained his faculties and was conscious of everything until about three days before his death. During the last of his sickness he called his children to his bedside and directed them as to the disposal of his property and bidding them each goodbye, he expressed his satisfaction and readiness to go to the Great Beyond, saying he was tired of his earthly life and longed for rest, also leaving a special message for his only brother, Thomas B. Sailor of Mt. Vernon, Ohio. Mr. Sailor never made a public profession of religion but was of a kind, retiring nature, bring more for home and family than public notoriety. He was honest and upright in all his business dealings and a foe to strife in every sense of the word. Mrs. Sailor preceded her husband to the grave July 7, 1907. Until a few moths previous to her death, Mr. and Mrs. Sailor had resided on a farm in the vicinity of Sciola for a number of years. John B. Sailor was born near Lancaster, Pennsylvania, July 6, 1835, and moved with his parents to Ohio when nine years old. He was married to Mary A. Walker April 10, 1856, and they with their family moved to the eastern part of Iowa 41 years ago. In 1874, they came to Montgomery County and located on a farm near Sciola and resided in that vicinity until their death. To Mr. and Mrs. Sailor were born four daughters, three of whom are living and were with their father in his last sickness. They are Mrs. Ella Goble of Madison, South Dakota, Mrs. Lizzie Lattimer of Cumberland, Iowa, and Mrs. J. B. Kimel of Sciola. Mrs. W. P, Mayhew of Sciola died April 19, 1905. The funeral of Mr. Sailor was held from the Holmes Chapel Church Friday, January 6, at 2:30 p.m. conducted by Rev. Gager of the M. E. Church of Grant. The interment was in the Memorial Cemetery.
