Description	:	John Conrad Kahler, 75, of York, retired Burlington Railroad employee, died Wednesday, April 24, 1968, at 7:30 p.m. at York General Hospital. He had been in failing health seven years, but had been hospitalized but one day. He was born at Fairmont November 7, 1892, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Schluening Kahler. He had been in failing health seven years, but had been hospitalized but one day. He was born at Fairmont November 7, 1892, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Schluening Kahler. He was employed by the Burlington as depot agent in York, retiring in 1960 after 42 years with the company. He had resided in York 40 years. He was married to Rose Rayer of Exeter, June 14, 1915. To this union, a son and daughter were born. He was a member of the Fairmont Methodist church. Surviving are his wife, Rose, a son, Leslie of Cheyenne, Wyo.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Henry Branz of York, Mrs. Sherman Dunkin of Chanute, Kas., Mrs. Harry Langston of Inglewood, Cal., Mrs. Bryant Loomis and Mrs. William Hurst, both of Farimont and one brother, Henry of Grand Island. A daughter, Pearl; a brother, two sisters and his parents preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev Frank Kirtley officiating. Mrs. Hermann Glock, accompanied by Mrs. F.M. Cummings at the organ, sang "Going Home." Pallbearers were Lindell Churchill, Russell Learned, Glenn Maulsby, Raymond Newman, George Shipferling and Frederick Stuertz. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
