On Nov. 9, 1859, he was united in marriage to Harriet A. King, at Marshall, Oneida county, N.Y. To this union were born four children, one of whom, John W., died in infancy. James L, Charles D. and William J. together with the widowed mother, survive. In 1865 Mr. Norton moved from New York state to De Kalb county, IL., where he resided for one year. ... On Nov. 9, 1859, he was united in marriage to Harriet A. King, at Marshall, Oneida county, N.Y. To this union were born four children, one of whom, John W., died in infancy. James L, Charles D. and William J. together with the widowed mother, survive. In 1865 Mr. Norton moved from New York state to De Kalb county, IL., where he resided for one year. In 1866 he moved to Iowa County, Iowa, and settled in Greene township, where he resided until February of 1893, at which time he moved to Poweshiek county, four miles northwest of Victor, where he lived until his spirit passed away peacefully, on Sunday, Nov. 2nd, 1903. It will be seen that Mr. Norton's life was identified with Iowa for thirty-six years, twenty-six of which were spent in Iowa county. A large circle of acquaintances in this county, together with his neighbors and friends in Poweshiek county, testify to the high regard in which he was held by all who knew him. His business integrity and general warm-hearted spirit won for him the esteem of all; a friend to everyone; a faithful husband and a kind father, his memory will be cherished by the immediate members of his family, and by a very large member of friends. The funeral services were held at the home, Tuesday, November 4th, and were conducted by Rev. G. H. Hanswalt of Victor, Iowa. The remains were laid to rest in the I.O.O.F. cemtery at Victor.
