Description	:	Dr. John Dirck Moyer of Yarmouthport, formerly of Hingham, Cohasset and Boston, a retired physician who specialized in urology, died Thursday at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. Read More	Dr. John Dirck Moyer of Yarmouthport, formerly of Hingham, Cohasset and Boston, a retired physician who specialized in urology, died Thursday at the Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis. He was 66. Born in Hiawatha, Kan., he spent his childhood on a dairy farm riding his pony, Ginger, to school. He attended college and medical school on full scholarship to the University of Kansas. After marrying Suzanne Brock during medical school, they moved to Boston, where he completed his training at University Hospital. He later moved his family to London and then to Topeka, Kan., before returning to Massachusetts. He and his wife moved to Yarmouthport in 1998. Dr. Moyer served as a urology resident at the Hospital for Sick Children in London. Upon returning to the States, he was commissioned as a lieutenant commander in the Navy, serving as assistant chief of urology at the Philadelphia Naval Hospital for two years. He served as chief of surgery at Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka before he joined Old Colony Urology and the staff of South Shore Hospital in the Boston area. He practiced in Weymouth until his retirement in 1995. He was involved in Hospice of Cape Cod and the Samaritan Hotline. He was a member of the vestry at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Barnstable, where he served as the head of pastoral care and recently completed a four-year program in education for ministry. A voracious bibliophile, he enjoyed travel with his family, sharing everything from sites of Europe to the farm where he grew up. Dr. Moyer is survived by his wife, Suzanne (Brock) of Yarmouthport; a son, Michael, of Chicago; two daughters, Kendra Foley of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Robin Chung of New York City; a sister, Sandra Snyder of Topeka; a brother, Jim of British Columbia; and three young grandsons. A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. tomorrow at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Barnstable. Burial will be at the Memorial Garden of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Barnstable.
