Description	:	Funeral Service For Mr. John Douma Was Held Saturday Mr. John Douma of Hull passed away early last Thursday morning at the Sioux Center hospital. Mr. Douma had for many years been troubled with asthma and for the last six years has been suffering from emphysema. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 1st, from the First Reformed Church with Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Mr. Douma had for many years been troubled with asthma and for the last six years has been suffering from emphysema. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 1st, from the First Reformed Church with Rev. David Ter Beest officiating. Mrs. John Koele was the organist at the services and Mrs. Alfred Doorenbos rendered special music, singing "He the Pearly Gates Will Open." Pallbearers were: Dave B. Broek, Ted Brunsting, Gerald Brunsting, Tom De Jong, Howard Heyman and Dowie Mellema. Interment was in Hope Cemetery under the direction of the Kraai Funeral Home. Mr. Douma was born October 17, 1892 at Alton, Iowa. December 23, 1925 he was united in marriage to Arvilla L. Kuyper at Boyden, Iowa. The deceased lived in this community most of his life and was an electrician for more than 25 years. He leaves to mourn his departure his wife and three children: Arvin J., now serving in the Armed Forces in VietNam; Estelle B. (Mrs. Larry Kimmel) of Gladstone, Missouri; Bertus G. of Colorado Springs, Colorado. Twelve grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. L.T. Brunsting and Tracy Douma , also survive. His parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded him in death. Sioux County Index 1968-05-30.
