Description	:	A prominent resident of the Schaller community, John D. Currie, 86, was found dead of an apparent heart attack at his home Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the United Presbyterian church with the Rev. G.G. Nusbaum officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller cemetery under direction of the Farber & Otteman funeral home. Mr. Currie, a native of Odebolt, had lived in the Schaller area for 80 years. He had represented Sac county in the Iowa House in 1955, 1957 and 1959 sessions of the Iowa Legislature. For 32 years he served on the Sac County board of supervisors. He was also a longtime member and chairman of the Sac county welfare board. He attended Schaller High School and Morningside College, owned and operated a garage and car agency in Schaller for six years and farmed in the area most of his life. In recent years he was in the farm management and real estate and insurance business. Mr. Currie was a member of the Presbyterian church, was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Blue Lodge at Schaller for 55 years. He was also a longtime member of Abu Bekr Shrine Temple in Sioux City. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Ivan (Lucy Kay) Wilharm of Fremont, CA, and Mrs Rex (Mary Lois) Homing of Des Moines; a John F. Currie of Schaller; a sister Mrs. H.E. Rininger of Schaller; a brother, Chester of Colorado Springs, CO; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Taken from the Storm Lake Register 3 Feb 1970.
