Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - Thursday , February 15th, 1945 - At Age of 85 Years - Schaller - Mrs. Mary Currie passed away Wednesday evening at 6:30, following an illness of several years. Services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 in the Presbyterian church at Schaller. Mrs. Currie, who would have celebrated her 85th birthday next Monday, is survived by four daughters and four sons, Marie Currie, Mrs. Kathryn Rogers, Mrs. Frank Collins, Mrs. H.E. Reninger, William, John D., M.E., and Chester J. Currie. Storm Lake Pilot-Tribune - Thursday , February 22nd, 1945 - Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Saturday afternoon for Mrs. Mary Currie, who passed away Wednesday evening Feb 14 after an illness of several years. Interment was in the Schaller cemetery. Bearers were Malcolm, James and Roger Currie, John Watson, Howard McDonough and Robert Collins. Mary McFarland McGregor was born on Feb. 18, 1860 in Glasgow, Scotland. When she was ten years of age her father brought his family to America and they settled at Clinton, Iowa. On Sept. 9, 1879 she was married to Malcom Currie of Odebolt. To them were born the following children, all living in or near Schaller: William M Mamie E John D., Mrs. Kathryn Rogers, Mrs. Annie Collins, Mrs. Maude Rininger, M. Edward, and Chester J. They lived In Odebolt until 1891 when they moved to the farm three and one-half miles northwest of Schaller. Mr. and Mrs. Currie joined the First Presbyterian church on July 5, 1898. Mr. Currie died In the spring of 1905. But Mrs. Currie kept the farm home with the boys doing the work until 1922 when she moved into town. She leaves in addition to her children, 17 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, many other relatives and friends. Those from out of town at the funeral were: Mr and Mrs. Wm. Poller, Alta; Mr. and Mrs. John Currie, Mr and Mrs. Robert Currie, and Mrs. Sebastian Lake, all of Sac City; Mr. and Mrs. James Fleming and Mr and Mrs. John Fleming from Denison; Mr and Mrs. Duncan Currie, Mrs. Nell Currie, Arthur Scott, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Dannenberg, all of Odebolt; Mr. and Mrs. John Carlson of Arthur; James Calhoun, Herring; Mrs. Elmer Hardwick, Cedar Rapids; Miss Mary Lois Currie of Des Moines came Saturday and returned to her work on Sunday.
