Death came suddenly at 11 a.m. Friday, June 20, following a heart attack while he and Mrs Currie were making a business call in Storm Lake. He had been ill the past three months but relatives and friends were encouraged when his health permitted him during the past few weeks to resume a limited schedule of work. Mrs. Oren Rlninger sang 'The Lord's Prayer" and "The Twenty-Third Psalm," accompanied by Barbara Barrett, organist. Clyde McDonough served as special usher and was assisted by Jack H. Chapman and Kenneth King. Mrs. Charles Hogue and Mrs. Harry Fiscus were in charge of the flowers. Interment was in the Schaller cemetery under the direction of Farber-Otteman Funeral home. Bearers were Donald Crawford of Galva, Donald Drake of Early, Lloyd Gosch, Charles Griffin, Robert Hennessy and Oren Rininger. Obituary - Malcolm Edward, son of Malcolm and Mary Currie was born at the family home in Eureka township, Sac County, on June 6, 1893. After graduation from Schaller high school, he attended classes at both Buena Vista college in Storm Lake and the 4C school in Des Moines, returning to work in the State Bank of Schaller in 1913. He was affiliated with the bank for some 45 years serving as president at the time of his death. All of his life was spent in the Schaller community except for services with the US army during WW I. On Feb 19, 1919, Edward Currie and Opal W Robinson were married at her parental home in McAllen, TX, returning to Schaller to establish their home. At various times he was a member of the Sac county Red Cross board, Schaller Chamber of Commerce and Rotary club. He belonged to the Schaller Masonic lodge, American Legion post and served on the city council. He was preceded in death by a daughter; his parents; a brother, William, and 2 sisters: Mrs Guy Rogers (Kathryn) and Mrs Frank H Collins (Annie). Immediate survivors are is wife, Opal; four sons: Gordon of Cleveland, OH; Douglas and Edward both of Minneapolis; and James M of Ames and 5 grandchildren. Others to survive are 2 brothers: John E of Schaller and Chester J of Colorado Springs, CO and 2 sisters: Mamie E and Mrs H.E. Rininger (Maude) both of Schaller.
